Jimmie M. Adams, 88, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009. He was born in Eva to Robert and Eva Adams. He graduated from Eva High School, where he was a four-year letterman in basketball. Mr. Adams retired from Wolverine in 1983, and again in 2001 from the Morgan County Education System. Mr. Adams was a member of Central United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving as usher, and was a proud member of the Good Fellowship Sunday school class. He was an avid ballroom dancer and a member of the Decatur Boot Scooters. He served in the Persian Gulf command in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Cobb Adams. He is survived by his son, Jim Adams, and his wife, Lu, of Birmingham; and his daughter, Rita Tomlin of Hobe Sound, Fla.; three grandchildren, Sherry Jackson (Brian) of Stuart, Fla., and David Adams (Amanda) and Stephen Adams (Michelle), both of Birmingham; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Jackson and Meredith Adams; and a dear friend, Polly Higgenbotham. Graveside service will be today, July 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. today at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church.
