Jimmie was very active in the VFW, The Veterans of Foreign Wars organization, and was a life member. She was an active member in the state of Alaska and in Washington, serving in many positions including chairmanships and Post President. Jimmie furthered volunteered her time with the VFW through volunteerism at Veterans hospitals by joining the MOCA, The Military Order of the Cootie Auxiliary. She was a dedicated member and attended their National Conventions yearly as her health permitted. The MOCA also organized yearly trips to Washington DC to Arlington Cemetery where members laid wreaths at the Tombs of the Unknown Soldiers, this was an especially special trip for Jimmie that she attended regularly giving her the significant privilege of honoring our fallen unknown soldiers. These trips to Arlington were most important to Jimmie as it symbolized her undying love for our veterans and her love for her fellow members and friends of the VFW and MOCA that allowed her to reunite and socialize with her dear friends. Her volunteerism with veteran causes made a substantial difference in the lives of our Military Personal and will always be remembered.
