Joe Conrad Paxton, 67, passed away from this life Friday, August 1, 2014, at ECM Hospital. Joe was born December 22, 1946 to Joe Cephus and Dorothy Elizabeth Paxton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Bruce and Etta Robison Paxton and Yancey and Reda Williams.
Mr. Paxton is survived by his sisters, Margaret (James) Phillips, Jeneane (Steve) Ezell, Brenda (John) Beckham, Geneva Paxton, and Wyvonnne (Bobby) Olive; one niece, Leticia Ezell Rasmussen and family; seven nephews, Troy Ezell and family, Tyler Beckham and family, Robin, Joel, Benjamin, Bart, and Terrell Phillips and families; seven great nieces; six great nephews; and his very best friend, Betty Lovell.
Visitation will be Monday, August 4, 2014, from 6-9 PM at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 11 AM at Elkins East Chapel, with Bro. James Phillips and Bro. Alex Bayes officiating. Burial will be at Barnett Cemetery.
Joe was a member of the Church of Christ. He and his best friend Betty Lovell attended Rogersville Church of Christ. Joe really gave his life over to Christ in June 2010.
He was a graduate of Lexington High School class of 1965. He was a graduate of Calhoun Community College. He loved to farm, raise cattle and horses. He was a member of the Alabama Cattlemen''s Association and the Lauderdale Cattleman''s Association. He enjoyed being outside and loved the natural beauty of the earth. Joe loved to listen to Bluegrass and county music. He loved his family and friends and would do anything for them.
Joe retired from Reynolds Metals and Wise Alloys with 40 years of service.
Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Lexington High School Class of 1965, Moe McCain, Benji McCafferty, Johnny Thigpen, Bryant Griffin, Calvin Cox, James Earl Cox, Benji Pokorny, and Joe Romine.
