Decatur
Funeral service for Joel W. Goree, 70, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, June 6, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh Bohlin officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to service.
Mr. Goree, who died Saturday, June 2, 2011, was born December 12, 1940, in Morgan County to John William Goree and Kate Speegle Goree. He was a member of Cedar Ridge Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Goree; step-son, Ishmel Joe Martin; and brother, William Thomas Goree.
He is survived by his step-son, Larry Martin (Janice); daughter-in-law, Donnie Martin; three grandchildren, Colette White, James S. White, and Brett L. White; two nephews, Bruce Goree (Cathy), and Chip Goree; two nieces, Fawn Custer (Steve), and Margaret Goree; and cousin, Annie Walker.
