John Samuel Begue, Jr., 76, of Florence passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Florence Nursing and Rehab Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mr. Begue received his Bachelors Degree from Roosevelt University and his Masters Degree in Accounting from Pace University. He worked at Walborg Corporation and then at Everlast Corporation for 24 years as a Controller. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Begue enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, sports, reading, hiking and working out at the gym.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 49 years, Jean Begue; sons, Jason Begue (Pam) and Jonathan Begue (Beth); Jason''s children, Hannah, Tessa, Ethan; Jonathan''s children, Skyler, Isabella and Spencer; siblings, Carol Head, Linda Begue, William Gary Begue (Sherry); many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Ruth Leventhal; and cousin, Janet Weinberg. Many thanks to our loving friends and family who made our life so wonderful.

Mr. Begue was preceded in death by his parents, John and Thelma Lacey Begue.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ramapo Ridge Hospital at Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff, NJ and ECM Hospital in Florence, AL.
