Funeral for John B. Hurst, 81, of Decatur will be on Friday at First Baptist Church Chapel at 2:00 pm with Dr. Vernon Hurst officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Directing. Burial will be at Decatur City cemetery. The family will have a visitation Friday February 8, 2019 from noon until service time at the church.

Mr. Hurst was born on September 3, 1937 in Decatur to Byars and Lela Hurst. He passed away on February 5, 2019 at Huntsville Hospital. He was a graduate of Decatur High School and attended the University of Alabama. He was the owner of J.B. Hurst machine works for 47 years, and lifelong member of First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife who he met at age 14 and was married to for 61 years Elaine Holle Hurst. Son Tim Hurst and wife Karen, daughter Carol Hurst Ahern. Grandchildren Justin Hurst (Valerie) Kinley Hurst Daniel (Jonathan) Atlee Ahern Marrie(Eric) Devon Ahern (Sydney) Great Grandchildren Ella Hurst, Gage Hurst.
