Obituary

Mr. John Wayne Masonia, 45, of Killen, passed away Friday, November 7, 2008
The funeral service will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home with Stan Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Star Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Masonia was preceded in death by his parents Virgil Leonard and Mary Edna Masonia. Three brothers: Herbert, Virgil, and Charles Masonia.
He loved Bluegrass music and Alabama football. He was an avid sports fan, Mr. Masonia lettered in three sports at Lexington High School. He was voted MVP in 1982 at Lexington High School. He was an accomplished banjo player.
He is survived by three sisters, Phyllis Stone husband Jimmy, Decatur, AL, Mary Ann Odom husband Don, Florence, AL, Shelia Killen husband Johnny, Rogersville, AL; two brothers Ray Masonia wife Clarice, Rogersville, AL, Glen Masonia wife Barbara, Florence, AL; special friend Kim Sharp; he was a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Thompson, Danny Thigpen, Tommy Hammond, Jeff Owen, Jerry Edwards, and Ronny James.
John Wayne had a love for life and family. His personality drew people to him. We have lost a beloved brother and a best friend. The lord blessed us all to have him for 45 years. We are blessed with many precious memories. We lean to the Lord for understanding and comfort. The Lord is good and merciful. His grace will help us through. God needed another angel, he got the best.
