John C. McBryde, 93, of Tuscumbia passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Cottage of the Shoals. A graveside service with military honors will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with Rev. Clint Bussler and Max Todd officiating. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
A native of Arkansas, John spent most of his life in Alabama. A work record of 60 plus years included being Plant Manager of Stylon Tile Company in Florence plus Plant Manager in the tile industry in Milford, Massachusetts and Houston, Mississippi. He also worked many years in the Gunite Concrete Industry and Concrete Business.
He proudly served in the Naval Seabees (Construction Battalion) during World War II serving in Guam and other Pacific venues. He joined the Seabees in Little Rock, Arkansas and entered service in December 1942. Shortly thereafter he married the love of his life, Pauline Sego on December 21, 1942.
A member of Wood Avenue Methodist Church in Florence, Uncle John was a loving husband and father. He loved activities with his family and friends, gardening, reading, bird hunting, golfing and he was constantly working with his hands.
Survivors include his nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife and soul mate for 67 years, Pauline Sego McBryde; daughter, Glenda K. McBryde Porter; father, James Maryland McBryde; mother, Mary Floy Bolding McBryde; sisters, Mary Lora McBryde Sanders and Nelreda McBryde Mays; and brother, James Hoyt McBryde.
