John Franklin, a descendent of an Alabama pioneer family, was born 1925 in Cherokee County, Alabama. He passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010, in Florence, Alabama. A veteran of WWII, Mr. McCullough was a graduate of Auburn University, receiving both his BS and MS degrees in Chemistry. During his career, Mr. McCullough was the author of numerous scientific publications and patents in the field of chemical research. After his retirement from TVA, Mr. McCullough enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Mr. McCullough is survived by his wife, Bette Davis McCullough; son, Mark McCullough, of Florence; daughters, Beth Brewer and her husband David Brewer, of Florence, Alice McCann and her husband Joseph McCann, of St. Petersburg, Florida; his grandchildren include Hailey Brewer Williams and her husband Allen Williams and daughter, Lizzy Williams, of Fairhope, AL, Bonnie Brewer Little and her husband Joshua Little of Birmingham, Davis Brewer, of Florence, James Donald Davis and his wife Wendy Herrin Davis, of Memphis, and John Bryant Davis of Memphis. Mr. McCullough is also survived by his sister Nan McCullough Glenn, of Gadsden, AL. The McCullough family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Felix Morris and staff and Hospice of the Shoals for the excellent care given to John and the comfort and support shown to the family. The McCullough family celebrated John''s life on Saturday, March 13th, at First United Methodist Church in Florence. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given in Mr. McCullough''s honor to St. Jude''s Children''s Hospital.
