Mr. John Joe Peters, 65, of Florence, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009. The visitation will be Tuesday, August 18, at St. Michael''s Catholic Church from 6-8pm with the rosary beginning at 8pm. The funeral will be at the church at 11:00am on Wednesday with Father Edward Markley officiating. Mr. Peters will be entombed at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens following the service.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Peters; son, Phillip Peters (Adrienne); daughter, Julie Holland (David); grandchildren, Luke Blalock, Carly and Mattie Holland, Johnathon and Emily Peters; brother, Rudolph Peters (Jean); sisters, Ida Plantz and Lena Pittner; sister-in-law, Idell Peters; seven nieces and six nephews.
Mr. Peters graduated from Rogers High School and retired from TVA as a machinist. He was also a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Ken Pittner, Allen Peters, Steven Stringer, Eric Terrell, Ralph Peters, and Frank Mecke.
His family wish to give a special thanks to Mary McGee and his sister, Lena Pittner, for all that they have done for John, Angela, and the whole family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael''s Catholic Church or Hospice of Shoals or American Cancer Society.
