Joseph Raymond Burgess, Jr.
Joe Burgess, 67, of New London, Connecticut died Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Veterans Hospital in West Haven, Connecticut, after an extended illness.
He was born on January 31, 1946 in New London to the late Joseph Raymond, Sr. and Matilda Burgess, he was also preceded in death by a sister Judy Hollenbeck.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Burgess and wife Marion; sister, Mary Ann Higdon; nephew, Tommy Burgess.
Mr. Burgess served our great country in the USMC during the Vietnam Era, where he was injured for life while on patrol. He retired from the USMC with a medical retirement. Joe loved his country and the USMC.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Elkins East Chapel from 9-10 AM. A service to celebrate the life of Joe will follow at 10 AM, with military honors.
