Funeral Service for Joseph Louis Girodo Jr., 87, of Decatur will be Monday, April 21, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Rick Chenault officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mr. Girodo, who died Friday, April 18, 2014, at Cullman Health Care and Rehab, was born August 14, 1926, in New Orleans, La. to Joseph Louis Girodo Sr. and Aurore Broussard Girodo. He was a retired Chemical Engineer from Monsanto and was actively involved in the Catholic Church, Huntsville Gem and Mineral Society and the Villages of Madison County Dickens Village Collector's Club. He loved gardening, fishing, little league baseball, watching movies, organizing, woodworking and making displays for his Charles Dickens Village Collection.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include one sister, Yvonne Thurber of New Orleans; two sons, Gary Louis Girodo (Teresa) of Loxley and Daniel Alan Girodo of Hartselle; two daughters, Gayle Lynn Monk (Lane) of Decatur and Donna Leigh Girodo (George) of Cheyenne, Wy.; eight grandchildren, Christian Zel Girodo, Jody Laymon Girodo, Misti Lane Clinard, Lori Ann Girodo, Jennifer Kristen Monk, Laura Lynn Monk, Chad Alan Girodo and Katie Beth Girodo; and nine great-grandchildren.
