Joseph Byrns Wright of Killen, Alabama, died June 7, 2011. Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Killen United Methodist Church from 12-1PM. Funeral services will be at 1PM, with Bro. Brian McIntyre officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. He was born December 28, 1922, in Robertson County Tennessee. He was a graduate of Orlinda High School. After graduation he joined the Army and served in World War II and later joined the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. His military service led to his employment in flight service in Nashville, Tennessee, and to his position as a supervisor at Muscle Shoals Flight Service Station. He was a member of the Killen Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow in 2002. He was also a member of Killen United Methodist Church, where he had served as Chairman of the Board and as Church Treasurer. He and Virginia volunteered at the Help Center in Florence for many years. Mr. Wright is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Virginia Wall Wright; two sons, David Wright and Joel Wright and wife Brenda; grandson, Joseph Brady Wright; son-in-law, Macon Burns; two sisters, Jane Stewart and Louise Maynard of Nashville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jean Wright Burns, two brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Milton Mitchell, Macon Burns, Bob Carriveau, Michael Stewart, Dennis Abbott, and Greg Abbott. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunday School Class # 10.
