Juanita McWaters, age 88, of Decatur, died on Saturday August 7, 2010 at National Healthcare Center in Moulton.
Funeral services for Mrs. McWaters will be on Thursday at 10 am in the chapel of Ridout''s Brown Service Funeral Home with Dr. Rob Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at 3 pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 pm until 8 pm.
Mrs. McWaters was born on February 17, 1922 in Asheville, North Carolina to Edward and Flora Patterson Ash. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church and a longtime resident of Cedar Springs Assisted Living Facility. Mrs. McWaters was retired from John C. Calhoun Community College where she worked for many years as a bookkeeper.
Mrs. McWaters is survived by her daughters: Karen M. Hopkins (Dale) of Columbus, MS, and Sandra Berthelot of Decatur; her son, William J. McWaters of Atlanta, GA; her sister, Mildred Ballew of Boise, ID; her granddaughter, Cameron Hopkins of Columbus, MS; her great grandson, Riley Hopkins of Columbus, MS; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael and Mark McWaters, Fred Frickie, Herman Marks, Sr., Elton McDonald, and Kenneth Nelson.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Central Baptist Church building fund.
Ridout''s Brown Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
