Judge Almon Michael, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the age of 84.
Visitation will be Friday, June 26, 2015, at Elkins East Chapel from 11 AM to 1 PM. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM in the Chapel with Bro. Stan Dean and Bro. Charles Kretzer officiating. Burial will be at Barkley-White Cemetery.
Almon was a life-long resident of Lauderdale County and lived most of his life in Killen area. He attended Killen Church of Christ for the last 56 years. Almon owned and operated Michaels Body Shop in Killen for approximately 40 years. It was the place that many gathered, laughed, loved, cried and practiced hijinks on one another. Almon was a wonderful provider and a dedicated family man that both family and friend alike could always depend.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Corene Michael; son, Stanley Michael; daughters, Virginia Swinea (Bobby), Joyce Gresham (David), Pam Shapiro (Sigmund), and Hope Byrd (Ricky); brothers, Leo Michael, Sonny Michael; sisters, Elaine Cottles and Lorene Gray; grandchildren, Brian Michael, Josh Shapiro, Kyler Michael, Malora Graves, Mindy Borden, and Nicole Slaton; a host of great-grandchildren, lifelong friends, and acquaintances.
Pallbearers will be Josh Shapiro, Brian Michael, Kyler Michael, Louis Graves, Gilbert Borden, and Dusty Slaton.
The world will be just a little lonelier and a whole lot less colorful without you my fellow Christian. Rest in peace until we meet again as you welcome us all at the gates of heaven.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Shoals for their ever love and kindness throughout our time of need.
