Julia Marie Blackwell

Funeral for Julia Marie Blackwell, 90, formerly of Montgomery, will be Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Reverend Curtis Lee officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Blackwell died Wednesday, October 2, 2013. She was born January 28, 1923, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., to Bessie Marie and Louis Argend. Robert J. Blackwell and Julia Marie Argend were married May 30, 1941, in Decatur, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Argend and sister, Louise Jones.

She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia B. Strickland and Barbara M. Matas, both of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Martha E. Lee of Decatur.
