Mr. Julius "Jay" Brooks, 74, of the Springfield Community, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Visitation will be Thursday at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kenny Morgan officiating. The casket will lie in state at the church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Springfield Cemetery. Mr. Brooks was owner of B & D Towing Service and Auto Salvage. He was an avid fisherman, loved gardening and flowers which he enjoyed sharing. He was blessed to have gained knowledge about carpentry, electrical, and other trades which he shared with others. Most importantly, he was a kind, loving and generous person. He was preceded in death by a son Rodney Brooks. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Sue C. Brooks; daughters Kimberly Hope Fallen -Georgetown, KY and Janet Cunningham (Bill)- Lexington, AL; sons Rick Brooks (Audra) - Cincinnati, OH, Steve Brooks (Sherry) -Sadieville, KY and Joe Price -Georgetown, KY; grandchildren Austin Brooks, Lori Brooks, Holli Fallen, Cooper Fallen, Payton Fallen, Kelly Beeler, Jacqueline Brooks, Brittney Brooks, James Fryman, Morgan Mizell and Hunter Jay Farthing ; 5 great-grandchildren; step-children David Darnell (Linda) - Georgetown, KY, Stevie Darnell (Cheryl) , Terry Darnell (Sharon) and Danny Darnell all of Stamping Ground, KY, Linda Long (David) and Connie Darnell all of Ohio; Sisters Shirley Fritts -Georgetown, KY and Willie Etta Stone (Don) - Raleigh, NC; brother Ben Brooks (Jewell) - London, KY; sister-in-law Julie McNeese - Georgetown, KY; nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Deacons of Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
