Funeral for Katherine L. Smith, 93, of Decatur will be Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's BrownService Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Cotton officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith, who died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, was born Aug. 7, 1914, in Morgan County to Winston T. Long and Beulah Holt Long. She was a lifelong member of Austinville United Methodist Church. Her husband, James Hobson Smith, preceded her in death. Survivors include two brothers, Marcus O'Neal Long and his wife, Margaret Frances, of Athens and Marlin Long of Decatur; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Todd Johnson, Shayne Johnson, James Ernest Long, Bobby Joe Johnson, Jimmy Long and Allen Evans. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of the Valley, Meals on Wheels or to Austinville United Methodist Church.
