Mrs. Kathleen Woodall Bullard, age 87, of Florence, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 after a courageous battle with ALS. The memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Elkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Underwood officiating. The graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Iuka, Mississippi.
Mrs. Bullard retired from the Lauderdale County Department of Human Resources in 1983 after many years of service. In 1988 she was appointed to the DHR board where she served as its chairperson for the last eight years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Bullard, parents James William and Verna Mae Woodall, and brother James L. Woodall.
Mrs. Bullard is survived byher son Dr. Bill Bullard, boise, Idaho; a grandson Karl Bullard and wife Laurie, Boise, Idaho; granddaughter Laura Anne Bullard, Los Angeles, California; great-grandchildren Anthony Bullard, Boise, Idaho and Melissa Wynn, San Antonio, Texas; great-great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Hailey Wynn, San Antonio, Texas; sisters Katherine Gable and Billie Ryals, both of Florence.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Mitchell-Hollingsworth, Hospice of the Shoals, Alice Carter, and Martha Adams for the special care they gave Kathleen the last months of her life.
