A graveside service is planned for Kenneth Day, 88, of Moulton on Sunday, May 30, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Moulton Memory Gardens with the Rev. Rod Morgan officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing.
Kenneth H. Day, who passed away Friday, May 28, 2010, was born January 31, 1922, in Moulton to John and Vere Armstrong Day. Kenneth was a World War II veteran who retired in 1976 from the U.S. Department of State where he served as a diplomat. He lived in Maryland and overseas for many years. He then returned to Moulton in 1980 where he spent the remainder of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Sibley Day; sons, Henry G. Day of Huntsville and Douglas Day (JoAnne) of Naples, Fla.; daughter, Diana Day Namie of Decatur; daughter-in-law, Ellen M. Day of Leander, Texas; grandchildren, Julie Day of Leander, Texas, Jessica Wignal (Joseph) of Boston, Mass., Ryan Day of Washington, D.C., Katie Day of Orlando, Fla., Haley Namie of Tuscaloosa and Hardin Namie of Decatur; and great-grandchildren, Jonah and Juniper Wignal of Boston, Mass.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Montyne McMillan; and son, Paul Sibley Day.
