Funeral for Kenneth D. Wood, 71, of Danville will be today, June 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Danville Old Time Holiness Church with Bro. Mark Hicks, Bro. Larry Blackwell and Bro. Robert Kelley officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery.
Kenneth D. Wood died Friday, May 28, 2010. He was born April 13, 1939, in Lawrence County to Jody and Dora Wood. Bro. Wood was the founder and pastor of Neel Church of Jesus Christ, Danville Old Time Holiness Church and later pastored Barnett's Chapel Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Colene Mount Wood; two daughters, Tracy Hicks (Mark) and Wendy Laurence (Vernon); eight grandchildren, Colton, Clancy, Gabriel and Zachary Hicks, Kristen Fricks (Michael), Scarlett and Braden Laurence and Amber Atkins; two sisters, Alice Roper and Frances Downton; and one brother, Jimmy Wood.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Marie Gillespie Wood; stepdaughter, Kelley Mount Atkins; two sisters, Dorothy Blake and Doris Milbourne; and two brothers, William and Odis Wood.
