Larry H. Mitchell, 82, of Florence died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Westminster Assisted Living in Decatur. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Elkins Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 am with Bro. Bryan McIntyre officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Mitchell; parents, Herbert and Ruby Mitchell; and brothers, Johnnie L., Billy E. and A. Glenn Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his daughter, Laura Horton (Stacy); son, Chris Mitchell (Angela); grandchildren, Haley Mitchell Newton (Matt), Allison Young, Lyndsey Young, Easton Horton, Chalie Horton; and great grandchild Mitchell Timothy Newton.

Pallbearers will be: Stacy Horton, Matt Newton, Easton Horton, Rocky Adkins, Steve Mitchell, and Greg Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Lee Butler, Carl Kelly, and Sunday School Class 10 of Killen United Methodist Church.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Killen United Methodist Church and was also active in the Killen Lions Club. He retired from the Lauderdale County School System as a Principal. He also served our country in the Navy.
