Obituary

Mr. Larry Earl Ritter, 72, of Rogersville, passed away peacefully at home Monday, April 5, 2010. His family will receive friends at Elkins East Chapel Wednesday, April 7 from 6-9pm. He will lie in state Thursday from 1-1:45 at Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The service will begin at 2pm with Rev. Kenny Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Portertown Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Madge Ritter; brother-in-law, Eddy Smith; and step son-in-law, Jimmy Boyd. Larry graduated from Lexington High School. He worked at Reynolds Alloys and Ray Miller Buick. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 613, the Cahaba Shriners, and Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Larry enjoyed outdoor activities, especially gardening. He loved to work in his beautiful flower garden. He loved to feed and watch birds. He also loved spending time with family and friends and making everyone laugh.
Larry was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Christine Ritter, of Rogersville; daughters, Jerri Ritter Killen (Ralph), of Florence, AL, Leanna Ritter Jones (Danny), of Killen, AL, and Deanna Ritter Simpson (Chip), of Killen, AL; step son, Freddie Hargett (Sonya), of Huntsville, AL; step daughter, Leah Logan (Gene), of Tuscumbia, AL; grandchildren, Whitney Simpson Thigpen (Kirk), Logan Simpson, Jesse Jones, and Karaline Jones; step grandchildren, Heather Killen Childers (Brian), Lauren Logan, and Gabe Stegmaier; great-granddaughter, Chloe Thigpen; step great-grandson, Brysen Childers; sisters, Gloria Smith, of Tuscumbia, AL, and Frances Putnam (Jay), of North Carolina; 2 nephews and 2 nieces.
Pallbearers will be Logan Simpson, Jesse Jones, Kirk Thigpen, Paul Irvin, Neal McGuire, and Joey Putnam. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Campbell, Bobby McGuire, and Bobby A. Howard.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Jason Wilks, Dr. David Hollis, Midsouth Home Health, Hospice Of The Shoals, and the Springfield Community and family.
