Laverne Crow White, 93, of Decatur was born on October 21, 1923 and passed away February 14, 2017. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur Alabama and was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years M.H. "Buddy" White. Buddy was a Decatur firefighter for 30 years. Laverne was also predeceased by her parents and 5 siblings. She is survived by her children David White and wife Donna of Harvest, Sherry Smith and husband Kenny of Trinity, Dan White and wife Betty of Decatur, and Ellen Duren of Decatur. 10 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends who she considered her family.

Laverne was an active member of Sixteenth Ave. Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed sewing for her family and friends. Laverne will have a visitation on Saturday February 18 at Sixteenth Ave. Baptist from 10:30 AM until Noon with a Funeral Service to follow in the sanctuary with Brother Thomas Farris and Brother John Alley officiating, the burial will be at New Friendship Baptist Church. Ridout''s Brown-Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Pallbearers will be Tom White, Blake Casteel, Justin Slatton, Michael Reardon, Tyler Coffman and Clay Monk.
