Rev. Laymon Lee Brewer Jr. age 73 of Florence, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015. Visitation will be Monday evening October 19, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence. Services will be Tuesday October 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Lee Heights Baptist Church of Florence, visitation 10:00 A.M till 11:00 A.M. with Rev. William T. Brewer, Rev James Waddell and Rev. Jonathan "Jono" Sims officiating. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Colbert County.

He is preceded in death by his wife Helen A. Brewer, parents Laymon Lee Brewer Sr and Elizabeth Skipworth Brewer, and his sister Della Mae Brewer.

Laymon is survived by his two sons, L. Lee Brewer III and wife Robin and Mickey Brewer and wife Andrea. His daughter Lori Kidd and husband Ricky. Three sisters Alma Daughtery (Tommy), Meryle Wesson, and Deborah Burnside (Jerry). Four brothers William Brewer (Delores), Kenneth Brewer (Karen), Bobby Brewer (Alicia) and Terry Brewer (Emily). And eight grandchildren Carter and Callie Rose Brewer, Garett, Caleb and Marabeth Brewer, Jackson, Maggie and Evan Kidd.

Rev Brewer graduated from Central High School and enlisted in the Army where he served as a M.P. (Military Police). He attended UNA when it was known as Florence University and graduated from Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary with a divinity degree. He pastored at New Hope Baptist for 3 years, then at Lee Heights Baptist for 31 years. He also after 25 years retired from the Ford Motor Company.

Pallbearers will be Carter Brewer, Garett Brewer, Caleb Brewer, Marlin Johns, Gerald Johnson and Brian Wright. Honorary Bearers will be nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made to the "Baby Cora Fund" at any location of Bank Independent branch.
