Funeral for Lee Sterling Grubbs, 87, of Decatur will be Monday, October 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Dr. John Skelly officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer, Tenn. Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Chapel.
Mr. Grubbs, who died Thursday, September 29, 2011, was born June 16, 1924, in Morgan County to Sterling Kelly Grubbs and Mary Ellen Genaty Grubbs. He served in World War II in the 15th Cavalry. He also served in the United States Air Force retiring after 22 years of service. After his retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Grubbs was an instructor in missile school. His son, Raymond Grubbs, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Erwin Grubbs; one son, Sterling Kelly Grubbs of Huntsville; three daughters, Vanessa Roper and husband, Randy, of Harvest, Mary Regal and husband, Bruce, of Washington and Marisa Myers of Florida; one brother, James Grubbs of Decatur; one sister, Mary Jane Grant of Decatur; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
