Mr. Leroy L. "Mac" McBride, age 78, of Florence, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010. The family will receive friends Friday, May 7, 2010 from 6-9 PM at Elkins Funeral Home Florence. The service will be Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 3:30 PM in the funeral home chapel with Brother Kenny Rogers, Brother Bobby Crosswhite and Brother Mike Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his son; Steven Lee McBride.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years; Virginia Isbell McBride. Children: Melissa Ann Raiphel and husband Darrell of Florence, Dawn Burbank and husband Shane of Florence, Mark McBride and wife Caroline of Huntsville. Grandchildren: Jonathan and Anthony Holt, Bobby Letson, Randy McBride, Devin and Colt Matticola and Michael Burbank. 5 Great-grandchildren. Brother; Billy Gene McBride and wife Judy. Sisters: Dela Fay Smith and Mary Wooten and husband James. Many nieces and nephews.
Mr. McBride was an elder at 1st United Pentecostal Church of Florence. He loved gospel singing and riding his motorcycle. He was a retired supervisor with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.
Pallbearers will include: Billy Gene McBride Jr., Michael Burbank, Devin Matticola, Brother Ray Stowe, Colt Matticola and Cody Sloas. Honorary bearers will include: Jimmy Burbank, J.B. Mayhall and Jessie Davis, Jonathan and Anthony Holt, Bobby Letson and Randy McBride.
