Leta A. Richardson, age 93, of Florence, passed away on Monday January 4, 2010 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday January 6, 2010 at 11 am in the chapel of Elkins Funeral Home of Florence with Dr. Hank Staggs officiating. A private burial will follow. The family will receive friends on that day from 10 am until 11 am at the funeral home.
Mrs. Richardson was a wonderful mother who loved her children. She was a lifetime member of Highland Baptist Church. Mrs. Richardson is preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Richardson, Sr.; her parents, Henry and Maude Abbott; her brother, Lawrence Abbott; and her sisters, Lillie McBride and Frankie Graham.
Mrs. Richardson is survived by her children, Joy Baker and husband Tom of Albany, GA, Judy Staggs and husband Ken of Florence, and William H. Richardson, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Florence; her sisters, Bobbie Pierce of Abilene, TX and Bertha Stewart of Birmingham, AL; her brother, Prentiss Abbott of Florence; her sister in law, Kathryn Abbott of Florence; her grandchildren, Paul Lovelace and wife Michelle, Hank Staggs and wife Andrea, Jay Staggs, Wes Baker, Steve Baker and wife Kathy, Shea Pitts and husband Brian, and Betsy Richardson; 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Station 3 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home for their loving care.
Donations may be made in Mrs. Richardson''s name to the St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital.
