Lewis Harvey Danner, 89, of Decatur died on June 17, 2013. He was born on December 6, 1923, in Whitesburg, Ky., to the late Otis William Danner and Lake Salyer Danner. Mr. Danner was predeceased by his wife, Faye Bridges Danner.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Danner and Kenneth Danner.

He is also survived by brothers, William Bruce Danner and Robert O. Danner; and sister, Janet Danner Lydecker.

After graduating from high school, he served in World War II from 1942-45. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Army, he spent the majority of his life in Alabama where he served as an executive with the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Danner was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur.

Funeral service will be Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Rudy Guess and the Rev. Charles Bowling officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lewis will be remembered as a gentle and kind man who loved his family.
