Louann Jennings Speegle was born on June 17, 1946, in Abbeville, South Carolina, to Billy B. Jennings (deceased) and Anne C. Jennings of Decatur. She was owner and operator of McBride Florist and Plaza since 1975 and owned and managed several business properties.
Louann enjoyed life to the fullest and loved being surrounded by friends and family. She believed in the motto "If not me, who?" and she demonstrated this belief to the fullest in her actions towards family, friends, and church. She was a dedicated member of Austinville United Methodist Church. She exhibited a strong faith in God which was reflected by her leadership and participation in all areas of her church from teaching several Sunday School classes, serving on committees, missions, evangelism, Bible school, and singing in the choir.
She is survived by two sons, Allan Kent (Karen), of Atlanta, and Michael Kent, of Decatur; stepchildren, Sheila Knop (deceased) (Jimmie), Lisa Jo Hill (Todd), Johnny McBride (Connie), Amy Shelton (Roger), Sheri Sandlin (Mike), of Decatur, and Janine Davis (Bob), of Warner Robbins, Georgia; mother, Anne C. Jennings; three sisters, Bebe Holtzclaw (Pete), Debbie Auton, and Helen Hill; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements for Louann Jennings Speegle, 69, will be Wednesday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at Austinville United Methodist Church in Decatur. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ridouts Brown Service Funeral Home in Decatur. Pallbearers will be Andrew Kent, Michael Kent Jr., Chip Wallace, Johnny McBride, Will Shelton, and Chris Riggs.
