Mrs. Louise Webb Pickens passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009 at NHC Health Care, Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 24, 2009 beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Underwood officiating. The private burial service will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Pickens, formerly of Florence, had moved to Murfreesboro to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She was a long-time member of Highland Baptist Church and had expressed her caring for others through volunteering at ECM Hospital and Mitchell-Hollingsworth Annex. She took great pride in her yard, flower gardening, baking and sharing with others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin C. Pickens, a building contractor. They enjoyed forty-eight years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by parents J. Burt Webb and Minnie Parker Webb, brother Jones T. Webb, and sisters Ruby Webb Mann, Marie Webb, Mary Webb Flippo, and Tempie Webb McBride.
Mrs. Pickens is survived by sister Jewell Jones, Florence; daughter Betty Pickens Ferguson (Ben); grandchildren, Col. Timothy Webb Ferguson, U.S. Army, (Susan), Germany, Elizabeth Lynn Ferguson Guy (Arthur), Baltimore, MD, and Sharon Maury Ferguson-Kolli (Murial Kolli, M.D.), Murfreesboro; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
