Louise Bedingfield Starkey passed away Aug. 9, 2009. She was born April 23, 1922, the daughter of the late Walter Bedingfield and Naomi Bedingfield, in Limestone County. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur and a member of Beltline Church of Christ. Mrs. Starkey owned Alpine Real Estate and enjoyed a successful real estate career throughout Morgan County and the surrounding areas for many years. She received an associate degree in accounting and was a member of the Morgan County Board of Realtors and a Business and Professional Women's Association member for many years. She actively served as a Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled Veterans of America Women's Auxiliary member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Arnett Starkey Jr.; and two brothers, Lloyd "Bill" Bedingfield of Decatur and Mack Bedingfield Sr. of Mooresville. Mrs. Starkey is survived by her two children, Walter Arnett Starkey III (Bobbie) of Springfield, Va., and Carolyn Davidson Barron (Linton) of Decatur. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Marguerite Blackwell (Marcus) of Decatur. She loved and adored one grandson, John Robert Davidson Jr. of Tuscaloosa, and two stepgranddaughters, Allison Barron Williams (Chris) of Panama City, Fla., and Jasmine Marie Shasteen of Springfield, Va. She is survived by Robert "Pete" McLemore (Genell), her favorite first cousin (double) of Rogersville. Following her retirement, Mrs. Starkey enjoyed traveling and faithfully gathered with her Tanner High School classmates for lunch each month. She passionately cared for an exclusive flower collection accumulated throughout her lifetime and enjoyed sharing them with her friends, and she took great pride in working in her yard as long as her health allowed. Visitation with the family to honor and celebrate her life will be Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, between the hours of 9 and 10:30 a.m. on the lawn behind Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home in Decatur. The 11 a.m. graveside service, conducted by Bro. Granville Graves of Beltline Church of Christ, and burial will follow in the adjacent Roselawn Cemetery.
