Lowell Avery, 85, of Killen died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at his residence. Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2011, from 1-2PM at Elkins East Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 2 PM, at Elkins East Chapel, with Rev. Steve Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, July 9, 2011, from 1-2PM at First Baptist Church in Hackleburg, AL. A memorial service will follow at 2PM, with Rev. Steve Lawrence officiating. Mr. Avery was a WWII veteran and served in the US Army. He retired from TVA and worked several years at American Chain and Cable in Adrian, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Grant and Melinda Avery; son, Kimberly Max Avery. Mr. Avery is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Nell Avery; son, Michael Lowell Avery; two grandchildren, Mary Beth Blair (Jeremy) and Fallon Nicole Avery; great-grandchild, Parker Blair; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
