Obituary

Loyce "L.A." Alton Tate age 93 of Rogersville passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Elkins East Chapel with funeral services to follow at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel with Rev. Keith Hawk officiating. Private burial will be at Harvey Cemetery.

L.A. was preceded in death by his first wife Cornez Slaton Tate and his second wife Dot Howard Tate. And his brother Everett Tate.

He is survived by his sons; Glenn Tate, David Tate (Sheila), and Robert Tate. Daughter, Jane Jordan (Mike). Brother, Dewey Tate. Grandchildren; Brandon Tate, Corbitt Tate, Michael Jordan, Steven Tate, Amie Tate, Elizabeth Anne Jordan and David Jordan. Great grandchild, Marlie Tate. His dear friend Joyce James. Step-children, Lois Greer (Joe), Donna Lemay (David), Tim Howard (Rhonda) and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Loyce was a member and Deacon of Ruhama Baptist Church in Birmingham. And then Whitehead Baptist Church in Rogersville. He served in World War II. Worked his way through the ranks to become a Captain in the Birmingham Police Dept. Upon retiring, he became a rural postman in Rogersville, AL
.
Pallbearers will be Corbitt Tate, Steven Tate, Michael Jordan, David Jordan, Brandon Tate and Ben Tate.
