Funeral for L.R. Roberts, 83, of Decatur will be Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Flint Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Cagle officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home and Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Mr. Roberts, who died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital, was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Wayne County, Mich., to Earl and Alice Roberts. He was a U.S. veteran of World War II. He retired from Thiokol with 32 years of service. Mr. Roberts was a member of Flint Baptist Church for 57 years where he served as a deacon for 54 years. He was a Mason in the Nunn-Oden Lodge No. 398 in Hartselle Survivors include his wife, Nadine Roberts; son, Leonard Roberts and his wife, Vicki; daughter, Nona Pace; sister, Ella Robinson; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Buddy Suggs, Junior Makemson, Rodger Cobb, Brian Hill, Art Greenberg and Bobby Suggs. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Hall, Randy Barbrey, Earl Haygood and John McCleskey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Flint Baptist Church Building Fund.
