Lucile Caudill Dumas of Florence passed away March 5, 2014 at the age of 91. Visitation will be Saturday evening, March 8th at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence from 6pm till 8pm. Graveside services will be Sunday March 9th, 2pm at Decatur City Cemetery in Decatur, Alabama. Eulogies and prayers will be led by Mike Case, Butch Case and Don Peebles.

She was the daughter of Stephen Emery Caudill and Dora Armstrong Caudill. She was born on February 13, 1923 in Winfield, AL. The family moved to Decatur, AL a couple of years later where she spent the rest of her childhood and graduated from Riverside High School in 1941. She was very active in sports, excelling in basketball and softball and was voted a class favorite her senior year.

In 1951, she met and married A. Leon Dumas of Barnesville, GA. Through the following years, his job took them to several locations in the South. Along the way, they were blessed with the birth of two children, Debra in 1954, and Bill in 1957.

She spent several years as an administrative assistant and in that time found two passions dear to her heart; the game of golf and working with the youth through the various Methodist Church affiliations at the family stops.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Leon Dumas, her parents, Stephen and Dora Caudill, brothers, Robert "Bobby" L. Caudill, Eugene "Gene" E. Caudill, Stephen "Red" E. Caudill Jr., and James "Jimmy" H. Caudill; sisters, Esther Hambrick Case, Dora Allen Brock, and Mary Caudill Mitchell. She was the last of one generation of a large and loving family.

Lucile is survived by the light of her life, her daughter Debra, her son Bill Dumas (Becky), her dear sister-in-law Mary Hartgroves Caudill, and several nieces and nephews. Each will carry wonderful memories of her into the future. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
