Mrs. Lucille V. Mays, 91, of Florence, passed away Saturday August 28, 2010. Visitation will be Monday August 30, 2010 from 6-9 PM at Elkins Funeral Home Florence. Her service will be Tuesday August 31, 2010, at 11 AM at Stony Point Church of Christ with Brother Stan Dean, Brother Brad Adcock and Brother Paul Scott officiating. The casket will be placed in the church 1 hour before the service. Interment will follow in Florence City Cemetery.
Mrs. Mays was a life long member of Stony Point Church of Christ. She lived a long and fulfilled life and will be greatly missed. She was the best mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was a very loving Christian lady who touched many lives.
Mrs. Mays was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; Walter E. Mays, by her grandson; William Brian Mays and by her parents; James and Hattie Warren.
She is survived by her children: James Mays and wife Gail of Omaha, Nebraska, Pamela Hennessee and husband Billy of Florence, Trudy Collier of Sheffield, Bill Mays and wife Becky of Florence. Grandchildren: Stephanie Frans, Susan Kuhl, Greg Hodges, Victor Hodges, Rhonda Hennessee Wann, Wally Hodges, Gene Arnold, Jeff Arnold and Haley Gist. Great-Grandchildren: Matthew and Melissa Frans, Benjamin, Joshua and William Kuhl, Josh, Zachary, Eli and Victoria Hodges, Todd Wann and Bayley Gist. Great-Great-Grandchildren; Kendal Wann and McKenzie Hodges.
Pallbearers will include Greg Hodges, Victor Hodges, Todd Wann, Zachary Hodges, Gene Arnold and Jeff Arnold, Josh Hodges and Eli Hodges. Honorary bearers will include; Deacons and elders of Stony Point Church, Walter (Wally) Hodges and Clayton Mitchell.
