Lula Lee Thigpen, 89, of Florence, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior after an extended illness on Monday June 2, 2008.
Lula was born and raised in Lauderdale Co. Alabama on June 2, 2008. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lula was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, and most recently, the Assembly of God.
Lula is preceded in death by her husband, and 2 sons, James A. and Almon E. Thigpen.
Funeral services will be on Thursday June 5, 2008 at 10 am in the chapel of Elkins Funeral Home in Florence with burial to follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 4, 2008 from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
Lula is survived by her daughters, Audrey Thigpen and Peggy Jean Parrish, both of Florence, Helen Bunt of Elgin, and Ellen Carroll and husband William of Greenhill; her son Harlon Thigpen and wife Brenda Gayle of Sheffield; 16 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; numerous neices and nephews and a host of friends.
She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
