Graveside service for Lurleen Thrasher Schnur, 88, of Decatur will be today, July 18, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Rodger Jenkins officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Schnur, who died Thursday, July 16, 2009, was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Lawrence County to William and Florence Thrasher. She had one brother, Lester E. Thrasher, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Schnur and her husband, Herman P. Schnur Jr. owned River City Saw & Supply. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Decatur. Mrs. Schnur was preceded in death by her husband, Herman P. Schnur Jr. Survivors include three nephews, William J. Thrasher (Dawn) of Memphis, Tenn., and Wayne Thrasher (Georgiana), and John R. Thrasher, both of Decatur; and one niece, Douglas Ann Thrasher Livingston of Decatur. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church or Meals on Wheels.
