Mable Marcella Jackson, age 73, of Florence, died on Tuesday June 23, 2009 at ECM Hospital in Florence.
Funeral services will be on Friday June 26, 2009 at 11 am in the chapel of Elkins Funeral Home in Florence with Jim Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in Pettus Cemetery in Lexington, AL. The family will receive friends on the evening of Thursday June 25, 2009 from 6 pm until 9 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Jackson; her parents, Thomas and Jeannie Belle Pettus; her daughter, Gail Prestage; and her grandchildren, Holly and Joshua Laster.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her daughters, Pamela Laster and husband Michael and Angie Thomas and husband William, both of Florence; her sisters, Geneva Davis of Lexington, and Bet Hardwick of St. Joseph, TN; her brothers, Buford Pettus and W.O. Pettus, both of Lexington; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gene Jackson, Lance Barnes, Linden Pettus, Donnie Pettus, Larry McCreeless, and Michael Thorne. Mrs. Jackson''s grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to TN Valley Hospice and the 6th floor Nurses at ECM Hospital.
