Madge Clarissa Hamby age 93 of Florence passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013. A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee at a later date.
She was born January 4, 1920 to Allie Mae and Thomas Abraham Carter in Roane County, Tennessee.
She was a retired nurse from ECM and Colonial Manor Hospitals. Though Florence was her adopted home, she was intensely proud of her Tennessee heritage and of her Lady Vols.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Archie Byrd Hamby, sisters Margaret Baker, Thelma St. Denis, Ruth Rosenthal and Brother Thomas Carter.
She is survived by her sister Elena Sue Strasser (Joseph), niece Audrey Clark (Bruce), nephews, Tom Hamby (Patsy), Bob Hamby and loving frends Reverend Wayne and Judy Green, Ruth and Richard Topete.
