Mrs. MaeBelle Aileen Brown Leatherwood, of Rogersville, Alabama passed away Monday, September 29, 2008 at ECM Hospital.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home. Rev. Laymon Brewer and Rev. James Waddell will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. until service time.
The daughter of the late William and Bertha Phillips Brown, MaeBelle was born December 28, 1922. She was a loving mother, homemaker and faithful member of the New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death in 2007 by her husband of 62 years, Jessie Leatherwood; granddaughters Rhonda Waddell and Amanda Leatherwood; brothers, Osville Brown (Lonie), Arthur Brown, Oscar Brown (Evelyn), W.O. Brown, Buford Brown; and a sister, Eunice Brown Corum (LaFate).
She is survived by her children Linda Waddell and husband James, Rogersville, Brenda Richardson and husband Jim, Savannah, Tennessee and Ronnie Leatherwood and wife Deb, Killen. She was affectionately called Mamaw Leatherwood by her grandchildren Jeff Waddell and wife Tammy, Yvette Hamm and husband Keith, Suzette Strickland and husband Randall, Tim Richardson and wife Brandi, Lisa Richardson, and Jason Leatherwood. She adored her great-grandchildren, Shane and Tyler Waddell, Dusty, Tyler and Desire'' Hamm, Brittany Devore and Cody Strickland, Makayla and Cole Richardson, Austin Richardson and Bailey Holt, Kathryn and Audrey Leatherwood. She is also survived by brothers Luther Brown and wife Rose, Hueytown, Alabama, Edward Brown and wife Virginia, Belleville, Illinois; sister Adell Chandler and husband John, Florence; sisters-in-law, Edith Brown, Bonnertown, Tennessee and Wylodee Brown, Rogersville.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff and Shane Waddell, Tim Richardson, Jason Leatherwood, Dusty and Tyler Hamm. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Richardson, Keith Hamm, Randall Strickland, Carl, Charles and Gary Chandler.
The Leatherwood family would like to express their deep appreciation to special caregiver and friend Madia Haraway, Dr. Webb and Dr. Brown, and all the nurses in palliative care at ECM Hospital.
