The memorial service for Marcilla will be held on Monday, May 11, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home in Moulton. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Her grandson, Riley Turner, will officiate, assisted by her friend, Bill Becker. Burial will follow in Moulton Memory Gardens. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. Great-grandsons, Nolan Goodman, Kirk Turner, Wilson Turner, Caleb Quillen, Paul Goodman, Micah Quillen, Andrew Richardson and Thomas Richardson will serve as honorary pallbearers. Marcilla died on Thursday evening, May 7, 2009, at Glenwood Rehabilitation Center in Florence. She was born Jan. 7, 1919. She was a native of Moulton and a faithful member of Moulton Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and Wednesday night Bible Study for many years. She was a substitute teacher in the Lawrence County school system until her retirement in 1964. She was an avid gardener, and was instrumental in organizing the Radiance Garden Club, which made her a charter member. She touched the lives of many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lloyd Paul Turner, and her daughter, Linda Jane Turner Quillen. She is survived by her son, Paul Anthony Turner (Carolyn) of Moulton; her son-in-law, Joe Quillen of Killen; six grand-children, Jonas Quillen of Huntsville, Joshua Quillen of Killen, Lydia Quillen Richardson of Killen, Riley Turner of Moulton, Emily Turner Goodman and Daniel Turner, both of Opelika; and eight great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers at ECM Hospital, Glenwood Rehabilitation Center, the staff and residents at Regency Villa, as well as Drs. Michael Mitchell and Robert Webb, for their love, care, and friendship during her stay in Florence.
