Marjorie Sue Davidson Holloway
Birmingham
Marjorie Sue Davidson Holloway, known as "Margie" to her friends and as "Mama Marge" to her extended family, was born on September 2, 1928, in Decatur, and departed this life on June 18, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, James Leldon Holloway; her parents, George Oran Davidson and Susie Whyte Davidson; and her much-beloved brother, Thomas Oran Davidson.
Margie is survived by her children, Becky Nichols (Jimmy), of Orange Beach, Cheryl Paceley (Bill), of Vestavia Hills, Margie Brown (Khris), of Shannon, Jan Trucks (Steve), of Riverchase, and Jimmy Holloway (Betsy), of Mountain Brook. In addition, Margie leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Margie (Mama Marge) was a homemaker all of her life, devoted to her family as well as to her church, Oakmont United Methodist. She was very active in United Methodist Women. She was an extremely kind and selfless person, always doing for others, in her later years spending her time helping care for elderly friends who needed a ride shopping, a meal cooked, sympathetic and soothing words, and many other wonderful things done from her heart. She never spoke an unkind word about anyone, always choosing to look at the good in people.
Mama Marge was indeed a role model for her children, their spouses, and all of her family. She will be missed as she was a big part of our lives, but we all take comfort in the fact that she is now with her Lord and Savior, with her loved ones who joyfully greet her, and no longer in any pain.
There will be a visitation at Trinity United Methodist Church (Oakmont Campus), 914 Oak Grove Road, Homewood, Alabama today, June 19, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Decatur Cemetery at 2 p.m. tomorrow, June 20. A processional will depart from Rideout''s Brown-Service at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that gifts be given to Trinity U.M.C. (Oakmont Campus).
