Marjorie Louise Hanigan Thrasher Decatur Funeral for Marjorie Louise Hanigan Thrasher, 90, of Decatur will be Friday, August 3, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Sanfra Locke-Godbey officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Thrasher died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born August 31, 1921, in Limestone County to Walter and Irene Hodges Hanigan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years; Lester E. Thrasher; her son, John Richard Thrasher; her granddaughter, Nancy Caroline Thrasher and her grandson, Lester Collins Thrasher. Margie loved to cook big dinners, cookouts, weddings and holiday meals for her family and friends. She was an expert cake decorator and candy maker. She loved her nursing home family and staff at Decatur Health and Rehab. She dearly enjoyed visits from children who visited her at the nursing home. Marjorie was a lifelong member of First Christian Church and a member of Mary Lou Dancy Eastern Star. Survivors include one daughter, Douglas Ann Thrasher-Livingston; two sons, Lester Wayne Thrasher and his wife, Georgiana, and William Thrasher and his wife, Dawn; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Wiley Blankenship, Bobby Reeves, Justin Thrasher and Jerry West.
