Funeral for Martha Frances Hames Safley, 90, formerly of Trinity, will be Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cameron Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Safley, who died Monday, January 17, 2011, was born June 4, 1920, in Morgan County to Edwin Burke Hames and Maude Lamon Hames. She was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Lee Safley; one brother, A.B. Hames; and one sister, Sallie Mae Wescott.
Survivors include one son, Malcolm L. Safley (Sherry) of Guntown, Miss.; two grandsons, Chris Safley of Fairhope and Phillip Safley (Melinda) of Hartselle; two stepgrandsons, Chad Chilcoat (Shawna) and Matthew Chilcoat, both of Guntown, Miss.; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Hattie Maude Vaughan of Decatur; several special nieces and nephews.
