Mr. Marvin Francis Brown, Jr., 86, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the home of his son in Harvest, Alabama.
The visitation will be Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel with Gary Patton officiating. Burial will follow in the Florence Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was the last surviving of nine children. He was preceded in death in 2008 by his wife Estelle Brown. He was a member of the East Florence Church of Christ. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator at Reynolds Metals Co. and was a member of International Operating Engineers local # 320.
He enjoyed gardening, farming, attending East Florence Church of Christ and Alabama football.
He is survived by sons Randy Brown and wife Jacqueline of Killen and Gregory Brown of Harvest; grandchildren Bethany Fenn and husband David of Center Star, Laura Richardson and husband David of Sheffield and Tyler Brown of Tuscumbia; great-grandchildren Hallie Fenn, Wittlee Fenn and Ashlyn Richardson; many nieces and nephews and friends, including Lee Moss.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Brown, Bill Hudson, Gene Mitchell, Grady Patrick, David Fenn and David Richardson. Honorary bearers will be the Elders and Deacons of East Florence Church of Christ.
