Obituary

Marvis went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 26, 2009 after an extended illness. Marvis was born on May 21, 1927 in Rogersville to her late parents, Earnest J. and Ethel Howard McGee.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Brother Jason Vinson will be officiating, with burial at the adjoining cemetery. Married on January 12, 1946, she and her husband, James spent 63 wonderful years together. She was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Marvis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Marvis is survived by her husband, James Barnett of Lexington; sons, Ron Barnett, wife Karen, of Chattanooga, Tn., Tim Barnett, Starkville, Mississippi; grandchildren, Colby Barnett, wife Jennifer, Birmingham, Al., Jill Johnson, husband Kevin, of Chattanooga, Tn., two great grandsons Grant and Kale Johnson, two great granddaughters, Berkley and Brooklyn Barnett; sister, Thetus Lash , of Rogersville.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Millard, Gilbert, and Floyd McGee.
Pallbearers will be Deacons of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. The senior adult Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
James and his family would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Lyman Mitchell, Hospice of the Shoals, and From the Heart Caregivers.
