MARY KEY AVANT AVANT, MARY KEY, age 90, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away on January 31, 2010. She was a lifelong resident of Alabama and was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church in Birmingham. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jack P. Avant. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Thompson (Ricky) of Decatur; son, Lawrence Avant (Bette) of Houston, TX; son, Jack Avant (Melinda) of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, Melinda Weidner, Scott Avant, Jim Avant, Jennifer Burns, Laura Kodra, Kelly Kidd, Keith Avant, Bill Avant; and ten great-grandchildren. Pall bearers will be Jack Avant, Lawrence Avant, Ricky Thompson, Jay Kodra, Chad Burns, and Jeremy Kidd. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 in Elmwood Cemetery. Chris Sullivan will officiate. Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home, Decatur, directing.
