Mary L (Eigensee) Blue of Florence, AL, died August 30. 2023. She was born December 27, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, to late Harold and Margaret (Tucker) Eigensee. Mary was raised in Upper Arlington, Ohio, and graduated from Upper Arlington High School. She attended Denison University and graduated from The Ohio State University. Mary swam competitively in both high school and college. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and a life member of Ohio State Alumni Association. She was always a big Ohio State fan and for 50 years plus attended many home football games. She taught secondary high school science in Ohio, New York, and New Jersey. In her last teaching position she served as Department Chair Person at Groveport High School Science Department.
Mary married Richard N. Blue in 1967. As she and he moved to support her husband's career she always found a place to display her teaching ability to students from many different family backgrounds. She particularly enjoyed travel and was fortunate to have traveled to most of the United States and many countries around the globe.
Surviving are their children, Brian Blue of Columbus, Ohio; Dennis (Carissa) Blue of Houston, TX; and Tina (Kevin) Wardlaw of Kansas City, KS. Grandchildren include Maleah, Ava, and Juliana Wardlaw and George Blue. A brother, James T Eigensee, preceded her in death.
A Memorial of Mary's life will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 on September 15th at First United Methodist Church, Florence, AL with service at 2:30. A Celebration of her life will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 September 29th at Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, Hilliard, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Caring Places or a local Alzheimer's Association.
